This has come as a shocker to the entire Bollywood industry with B-town's two top heroines being raided by the Income Tax department for evading tax. Since today morning, precisely after 8am on January 24, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra's places were under the scanner by the income tax officials. It is said that the total of 12 premises are being searched by the I-T department. Sources present at Kaif's residence confirm saying, "The officers searching Katrina's residence have confiscated all her bank account statements and other necessary material in connection to the income tax search." On condition of anonymity one Income Tax search officer confirms, "We have already confiscated all the necessary material which will enable us to know the sum to be paid by Ms Kaif as tax which has been evaded by her. We have confiscated all her bank statements and even the I-T Returns documents."
The raid at Katrina's house is already over but Priyanka Chopra's still in soup.
Piggy Chops' not one but three places are being raided simultaneously. Priyanka lives in Raj Classique at Yari Road, Versova (suburban Mumbai) all alone and she is said to be inside the house when the raids are being carried. Her father Dr Ashok Chopra is a dentist by profession and stays with his wife and son at Lokhandwala, a stone's throw away from Priyanka. The Income Tax department has reached his place as well and raids are being carried out alongside. Our sources reveal, "In fact Ashok Chopra's clinic situated at Oshiwara has also come under the scanner. Dr Chopra is being questioned at his clinic, where he is present since morning." But so far they seem to have not found anything. On condition of anonymity another I-T officer from the scene says, "You will have to wait until we find something. It is too early for me to give you any details. So far we have not confiscated any material in connection with the I-T details." The entire industry is waiting with bated breath for any news that may come out of the stable, and so are we.
