'Help' is a supernatural horror thriller. The dead spirits like to maintain their aura by possessing some human body on the earth. They try to capture people who may have committed crimes against them.
Vic (Bobby Deol), a successful horror film director in Bollywood, is married to Pia (Mugdha Godse). Pia and Vic are not having a smooth married life. Pia keeps suspecting him for having closeness with his heroines. In the meantime Pia's father falls sick and they leave for Mauritius where he is based. Here the story unfolds leaf by leaf.
Pia had a twin sister who dies while she is a kid. When Pia comes back to Mauritius, she is possessed by her and then begins the trail of one murder after the other. In the wake of bringing an end to the tragic murders, enters doctor Aditya Motwani (Shreyas Talpade) who knows about this science. He opines that Pia cannot recover from this illness through medical science. He then takes Vic in confidence. And after proper inquiry from one lead to another, he is able to reach a decision. They bring Pia to his place where arrangements are made to capture the evil spirit and save the life of ailing Pia. Finally, the reason as to who is the evil spirit and why is she after Pia's life is unfolded. The evil spirit is made to leave her body, bringing solace, love and the new born baby in the life of Vic and Pia. The story is intriguing and the series of murders and twists in the plot keeps one's anxiety levels high.
First-time director Rajiv Virani has intelligently executed the horror tale. He has used his characters aptly and manages to bring in fear and anxiety in the hearts of the audiences through the minute details portraying the importance of the evil spirit.
The freshness in the idea as to why pregnant ladies of this family are troubled by the evil spirit brings emotional feelings towards the unborn children.
Mugdha comes up with a fabulous performance as a possessed lady in the film. Although she has donned a bikini in the film, her slim persona does not make her look vulgar. Bobby is natural and simple. Shreyas has also performed his character with great intensity.
Camera work and editing go hand in hand. Both the DOP and the editor have added a feather to the cap of the film maker. 'Help' will come as a surprise to the film industry as well as the audiences. The producers surely are confident about their product hence they are releasing it with a much-hyped movie like 'Peepli Live'. 'Help' definitely is a must watch film!
